The Causes of Acne and Blemishes

Acne is a common skin condition among both young people and adults. Acne is an annoying, recurring, and long-term skin problem that can manifest itself in the form of pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, oily skin, and blemishes. Most people afflicted with the disease know the myriad of treatment and medication options available to them but only a number know the real causes of acne and blemishes.

What are the Major Causes of Acne and Blemishes?

Acne and skin blemishes can be caused by numerous factors. Some of them are uncontrollable such as hormones and genetics; while some are within our influence like diet and the products we use on our skin. Today, I want to focus on the causes we can control and avoid.

However, did you know that simple, seemingly harmless acts can also cause these skin impurities? Yes. Touching your face makes it one of the dirtiest parts of the body. While washing your face at least twice a day with an all-natural product is effective; avoiding touching your face also goes a long way.

Poor Skin Care Regimen.

Sleeping with your make up is the worst thing you can do for your skin. Although, even if you do not wear makeup; there are other things that can make your face dirty and susceptible to acne and blemishes. Oil, debris, and dirt can build up on the skin during the day and can trigger new blemishes. Washing your face every night and at least one other time should clean your face up well.

New SkinCare Products.

If you are using new products for your skin, there is a big possibility that you might experience what people call “initial blemish purging.” This means that your skin is going to get worse before it gets better. Consider it a good thing unless the “purge” lasts for more than a few weeks. That means the product is not a good fit for your skin. Remember to choose products that are all-natural to ensure healthy skin.

Too Much Scrubbing.

One of the causes of acne and blemishes is the rigorous scrubbing of the skin. When the skin is rubbed too hard, facial scrubs and exfoliant may increase the risk of breakouts. Exfoliators can create pathways into the pores where pore-cloggers can enter and create blockages, causing more bumps and breakouts. Using scrubs that are made from natural oils and minerals can help exfoliate, detox, and remove buildup from the skin.

Acne affects more than 8 out of 10 people in the world and, based on studies, is the 8th most common disease in the world. Battling this disease requires that you know and understand the causes of acne and blemishes so you could be better prepared to win the war against acne.
