The Wonders of Oil Pulling Therapy

Coconut oil truly is an amazing product that has grown in popularity in the past few years. It provides the good fats that we need in our diet, has a very high heat tolerance making it perfect for cooking, and even has antifungal properties among many other health benefits. One thing that I personally have been using coconut oil for and loving the benefits is an ancient Ayurvedic technique called oil pulling. This technique has been used for thousands of years to improve oral hygiene and overall health.

Ayurvedic treatments of oil pulling are highly recommended both for preventing as well as curing teeth and gum diseases like sensitive teeth, dental cavities, bleeding gums, excessive salivation, anorexia, loss of taste, foul smell from the mouth, gingivitis, and dryness of lips and mouth. These Ayurvedic remedies for oral health state that this process can improve oral and overall systemic health. This helps to reduce the number of germs in the mouth cavity and prevent bacterial growth. This Ayurvedic healthcare procedure also aids in decreasing fungal growth and provides thorough cleansing and detoxification of the oral cavity. Mainly when oil pulling is performed regularly, this is a great help for the strengthening of the teeth and gums and jaws.

Oil pulling therapy works by absorbing toxins and chemicals through the blood vessels in the mouth and tongue. Organic Pulling Oil has a major impact on taking care of many dental issues including pain, bleeding gums, stained teeth, and loose teeth. One of the main benefits of oil pulling is, of course, improved dental health, but there are many more. It also fixes teeth that are loose. Some other benefits include: heal oral infections, bad breath, tooth sensitivity, tooth pain, and prevent tooth decay. It will also clean the teeth and lift stains. I not only do oil pulling with Organic Pulling Oil, but I also brush my teeth with it. It may sound strange, but it really does work great because my last visit to the dentist was a good one.

So, the technique is quite simple. You take a tablespoon of Organic Pulling Oil and swish it around your mouth for 10 to 20 minutes. The technique takes advantage of a couple properties of coconut oil, the first being a biochemical reaction that occurs between the oil and the bacteria and single cell organisms in the mouth. The fact that most single-cell organisms in the mouth have a lipid (fat) layer on the outside of the cell, the coconut oil (which is also a lipid) binds with the lipid layer of the bacteria. When you spit the oil out of your mouth after the pulling technique, you also spit out the bound bacteria and organisms with the used oil! So, as you are swishing the oil around in your mouth, pull the oil back and forth between your teeth. If you find that you feel the need to swallow the oil, spit it out and put a lesser amount in. If you jaw feel tired or achy, you are probably swishing and working a little too hard so back off on the intensity. Repeat this process daily, or at least several times per week.

If you have never given this ancient technique a try, now is the time! Oral hygiene is an important aspect of overall health and wellness. It is advisable to get a quality source of Organic Pulling Oil and feel the wonders do for me.
